Pastor-Church Relations Committee
Mandate
The Pastor-Church Relations Committee of Classis Alberta North is
to help churches and pastors foster healthy pastor-congregation relationships.
Specific Tasks
- Inform Classis how to build healthy churches and healthy pastor-congregation
relationships,and how common stressors in churches and pastor families can best
be addressed.
- Be available to church councils for consultation in matters of pastor-congregation
relationships.
- Work with pastors and spouses (in the event the pastor is married) and family members,
in the following ways:
- Be available as a spiritual and emotional resource as needed.
- Work towards forming small geographically-based Support and Accountability
Groups of pastors and spouses that organize events for fellowship, sharing,
and offering support and understanding to each other. Each of the groups
will have its own coordinator.
- Organize regular conferences for pastors (and spouses) for the purpose of
personal inspiration, fun and networking, worship and learning.
- Be available (or help find resources) for mediation and dispute resolution.
- Encourage churches to observe Pastor and Staff Appreciation Sunday in October of each
year.
