Committee's Statement

The purpose of the Christian Reformed Chaplaincy at the University of Alberta is: (CRC Campus Ministry Committee Statement)

  1. To bear daily witness to the redemptive faithfulness of our triune God.
  2. To profess from within our Reformed Christian tradition the wholeness of life in its dependence on the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit.
  3. To confess that life in its communal and individual expressions finds its origin and fulfillment in the love of God and the love of our neighbour
  4. To attest that academic life in preparation for vocation and career finds its coherence and significance in faithful obedience to the Word of God, communal worship of, and a personal relationship with, the triune God.

Classis' Statement

Objectives of Christian Reformed Campus Ministry at the University of Alberta: (Proposed Revisions to Statement February 24, 2006)

  1. To identify and gather the Christian Reformed students on campus into a community of believers, encouraging them to live their faith and to give it expression in their academic studies and vocation.
  2. To articulate and advance a Reformed world and life view within the academic community.
  3. To minister to all students and staff within the campus community, in addressing their personal, academic, and faith concerns by providing pastoral counsel and support.
  4. To witness to the good news of Jesus Christ and the Reign of God to the entire university.

CRC Home Missions Statement

Christian Reformed Campus Ministry mission and goals: (Statement from Denominational Campus Ministry Director - guiding our report format)
The mission of the Christian Reformed Church in higher education is to:

  • promote gatherings of God’s people
  • in the specialized context of higher education
  • to engage in holistic kingdom ministries
  • led and served by campus ministers, and
  • sustained in relationships of mutual accountability
The goals of Christian Reformed Campus Ministry are:
  • To celebrate the shalom of God’s creative, renewing race throughout the world of higher education
  • Eagerly to gather students, faculty, and staff into a relationship with Jesus Christ and into fellowship with other members of his body.
  • Boldly to promote the Reformed world and life view within the academy, enabling students, faculty and staff to explore and unfold the wonders of God’s creation, equipping them better to serve God in this world.
  • To engage persistently the spirit and mind of our culture, testifying to the Spirit and truth of God’s grace found there, offering hope and redemption by pursuing the Way of Jesus.
  • To offer willingly the fruit of this missional engagement to the institutional Church
